Compact constant-f/2.8 standard zoom for APS-C

VXD autofocus with an approximate 24-75mm equivalent range

Summary

The Tamron 16-50mm f/2.8 Di III-A VXD is a constant-aperture standard zoom for APS-C mirrorless cameras, maintaining f/2.8 across its 16-50mm range. B091 is offered in Sony E, Nikon Z, Fujifilm X, and Canon RF mounts by TAMRON. On APS-C bodies it provides an approximate 24-75mm full-frame equivalent view, depending on each system’s crop factor. Its compact format and bright aperture are suited to travel, interiors, street scenes, architecture, and environmental portraits when one everyday lens must cover a broad range of subjects.

Tamron’s official specification lists 14 elements in 10 groups, a circular 7-blade diaphragm, a 150mm minimum focus distance at the wide end and 290mm at the tele end, plus maximum magnification ratios of 1:4.5 and 1:4.8. Autofocus uses the linear VXD motor. B&H identifies GM aspherical and LD elements, BBAR-G2 and fluorine coatings, and a moisture-resistant design. The Sony E version is 64.4mm in diameter, 79.6mm long, weighs 305g, and accepts 55mm filters; the other mounts differ slightly in size and weight.

The Tamron 16-50mm f/2.8 Di III-A VXD suits travel, documentary work, landscapes, architecture, family photography, and lightweight video. The 16mm setting is useful in tight interiors and broad scenes, while 50mm offers a natural short-telephoto perspective for people and details. Sony E and Canon RF versions are scheduled for October 29, 2026, Nikon Z for November 19, and Fujifilm X for December 17. Final availability and pricing may vary by mount and market, while the constant aperture keeps exposure consistent throughout the zoom range.
