Summary

The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 23mm f/2 R WR is a fast, highly portable wide-angle prime lens engineered specifically for Fujifilm X-mount mirrorless cameras featuring APS-C sensors. Delivering an angle of view equivalent to 35mm in full-frame photography, this compact optic embodies one of the most celebrated and natural focal lengths in photojournalism, street photography, documentary reportage, and environmental travel storytelling. Its bright maximum aperture of f/2 delivers outstanding low-light capability in dim indoor settings while providing pleasant subject separation with organic background blur.

Optically, the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 23mm f/2 R WR employs an advanced optical arrangement of 10 elements in 6 groups, including 2 aspherical elements meticulously configured to suppress spherical aberrations and ensure exceptional edge-to-edge sharpness even wide open. The internal autofocus system is powered by an ultra-fast, whisper-quiet stepping motor capable of locking focus in as little as 0.05 seconds, integrating seamlessly with modern phase-detection algorithms and real-time subject tracking. Because it utilizes an inner focusing design, the physical length of the barrel never changes during operation, achieving an intimate minimum focusing distance of 22 cm with a 0.13x reproduction ratio.

Boasting a weather-resistant exterior constructed predominantly from machined metal, the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 23mm f/2 R WR weighs a modest 180 grams and accepts ø43mm screw-in front filters. The lens body incorporates a tactile physical aperture ring calibrated in precise 1/3 EV click stops and extensive weather-sealing gaskets that protect against moisture, dust, and freezing temperatures down to -10°C. Its compact tapered silhouette is specifically styled to prevent optical finder blockage on rangefinder-style bodies like the X-Pro series, ensuring an unobtrusive, durable shooting experience for demanding creators.
